This morning the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched the new Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro 2, an e-book reader that has been completely updated in terms of screen, performance, battery life and system. The product is now on presale in China on the official Xiaomi store at a price of 1299 yuan (180 euros), while the special price for the first few days will be 1199 yuan (170 euros).

Going to the specifications, Xiaomi's new Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro 2 arrives with a large 7,8-inch E-ink type display. The resolution of the panel is 1872 x 1404 pixels, therefore it is a screen with a high screen density, to be precise 300PPI. There are also special 24-level cool and warm two-color reading lights.
The e-book reader adopts a very thin body, in fact we are talking about a thickness of 7 mm, while the weight is 250 grams. Inside we should find a built-in 3200 mAh battery that provides up to 6 weeks of standby time.
In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro 2 is equipped with a quad-core chipset, or the RK3566, assisted by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. According to Xiaomi, the new e-book reader has a 109% faster system response than the previous generation.
Still as regards the software, the e-book reader runs with the Android 11 operating system and integrates rich reading resources such as Jingdong Reading, Palm Reading Selection, Duokan Reading, WeChat Reading. It is an operating system specially adapted for this type of e-ink screen.
The reader also supports a variety of library import methods and supports reorganizing PDFs. It supports import methods such as Baidu cloud, Duokan cloud, WLAN connection, USB connection to computer and Bluetooth. Supported file formats include .txt, .pdf, .epub, Office series files, etc.
