Xiaomi ensures that its smartphones have a battery life of at least 3 years

Whether it's a merit or a defect, it's not up to me to judge, but Xiaomi is one of those manufacturers who find it difficult to keep up with all the smartphone models that it churns out over the course of a year, at a frenetic pace. Not even a year passes between one generation and another, as well as smartphone models that flank the current series in a parallel way, such as the T variants or other.

This could on the one hand lead the user to think that their device is obsolete, but in reality this is not the case at all. "Psychological" that properly physical, i.e. battery life. In fact, if some OEMs have ended up in the center of the controversy called Battery Gate, or the planned obsolescence of a device, in the case of Xiaomi at a statistical level it is possible to say that a smartphone of the brand has a life cycle of at least 3 years, before that the battery begins to give the first signs of failure.

It is Xiaomi itself that shows us that many users, already in possession of a device with the company's brand, have made the leap to Xiaomi Mi 10 coming from a Mi 6, which was launched in 2017. This means that users of Mi 6 did not feel the need to buy a new mobile phone for about 3 years until the launch of the Mi 10 series, despite the fact that two other families were launched, such as Mi 8 and Mi 9.

In short, it is clear that the devices of the Asian brand are designed to last over time and that the company is proud of this success, but it is worth pointing out that when we talk about "Life cycle" we refer to the time that elapses from the moment the mobile phone arrives on the market until the user feels he has to change it because its characteristics are no longer in line with the modern market.

battery

For example, if you constantly run out of storage space, even if you delete files and uninstall apps, it means you have very little memory by the standards required by today's app. In this case of talking about completion of the life cycle, or when your smartphone no longer allows you to play the most demanding games or no longer takes spectacular photos, it is clear that it has completed its life cycle.

But above all, what Xiaomi emphasizes is represented by the performance of the battery of their smartphones, which in the case of Mi 6, have maintained a high level until the transition to Mi 10, therefore the change by users was done solely because by now the features no longer satisfied the needs of users linked to high-end devices, as was Mi 6 at its launch.

Now it would be curious to know from Xiaomi, if even the countless smartphones belonging to other market segments, entry level and mid range, keep faith with the statistics given by Xiaomi Mi 6. In fact, with so many phones launched on the now saturated tech market, it is possible that this statistic of the Xiaomi Mi 6 life cycle is not replicated by all the phones in the catalog. However, at the moment there are no reasons to doubt the opposite and personally, my experience can make me say that the story of Mi 6 as well as of the battery, is also true for Redmi 3S, which I purchased in 2016 and which still today. gives joys without batting an eyelid. Of course, it all depends on your particular requests and needs but I'm curious to know from you, assuming you have a brand device, to tell your experience, whether it be positive or negative. Do you still have an old Xiaomi fully functional or have you had negative experiences that after not even a week of life of the device, forced you to throw it away?

Nerd, Geek, Netizen, terms that do not belong to me. Simply myself, technology lover and provocative as Xiaomi does with his products. High quality at fair prices, a real provocation for the other most famous brands.

Xiaomi mi9T paid 400 euros, first problems with the battery after a month, if it was not charged quickly it discharged 1 time out of 3 in less than 2 or 3 hours, heating up enormously. Before 2 years of age, the fast mode was struggling to start. At 2 years and 3 months, with a new battery, the hardware does not make the battery last more than 20 hours in stand by. It is certainly planned and calculated obsolescence. Certainly Xiaomi has closed with me because I feel betrayed. Same thing for a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which was widely sold with a bug... Read the rest »
