According to a recent report, Xiaomi EV has begun to assemble a team dedicated to preparing for overseas sales. This team will operate under Xiaomi's international division and is currently recruiting experts in market research, project management, and after-sales engineers specializing in electric vehicles. Additionally, Xiaomi EV's intelligent driving division has added new positions to address compliance requirements for intelligent driving functions in overseas markets.

Xiaomi EV plans to start international sales with a series of market tests, selling a small number of vehicles in different regions. This preliminary phase will help the company better understand the market dynamics and prepare for a large-scale launch. Sales will mainly be based on stores directly operated by Xiaomi's international division, which currently has more than 100 stores worldwide.

Xiaomi's first model, the electric sedan SU7, was officially launched in China on March 28. Starting at 215.900 yuan (about $29.700), the SU7 has reached a major milestone with over 100.000 units sold by the end of the year. Xiaomi has already set a new target of 130.000 units for 2024.

Xiaomi also announced its second electric car model, the YU7 SUV, which will be launched in the middle of next year. Before the official launch of the SU7, Xiaomi unveiled the sedan at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, marking its first appearance on the international stage. In July, Xiaomi shipped two SU7s to France for a special exhibition in Paris, underlining its goal of selling Xiaomi-branded cars in Europe by 2030.

Xiaomi appears to be well-positioned to accelerate its entry into international markets. Xiaomi's familiarity with overseas markets and its extensive experience in international operations will provide a significant advantage. However, the company will face some challenges, including strengthening its recognition in the high-end vehicle segment.
