That's why Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro have an LCD and not AMOLED

October was a very important month for the brand as there was the European release of the series Xiaomi Mi 10T, which includes a standard version, one Pro and Lite. The hype was skyrocketing until it was announced that all of these devices are equipped with an LCD screen instead of an AMOLED. It is true: the cost is lower but why this choice? Daniel Hoang Desjarlais, Senior Product Marketing Manager of the Global area gave a response. The choice was very painful but also considered. There are some specific reasons: let's find out together.

A question that many have asked themselves: why does the Xiaomi Mi 10T series have an LCD screen and not AMOLED? The company responds

One thing that many did not expect, as mentioned, is the adoption of a non-flagship screen on the company's new devices. Xiaomi Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T Lite are equipped with an LCD display and not with an AMOLED like all top of the range. Users were disappointed and, at least at the beginning, we couldn't explain why. To be honest, the prices of the devices could be a "wake-up call" but the team of TechRadar interviewed Daniel Hoang Desjarlais, One of the PR of the brand, to get the official answer. Here's what emerged.

xiaomi explains why mi 10t pro has lcd screen and not amoled

The reasons behind this choice are different. A lot of research has been carried out and it has been found that 60% of users preferred a flat display to one with curved edges. It is not a universal law but the vast majority of xiaomists (and not only) badly digest the curved edges for reasons related to the daily use of the device: missed touches e uncomfortable gestures. The premium device segment is 90% curved display and this suggests that the new series of Xiaomi smartphones is not a flagship series. On the other hand, however, even those who buy a smartphone with curved edges complain of the same problems. So the choice fell on a flat display.

Now let's move on to the question and LCD vs AMOLED. L'LCD is considered inferior to OLED panels (AMOLED) regarding smartphones screens since does not provide such a wide range of colors andcolor accuracy is not the best. On the other hand, if not only the best around, it is true that they are the least expensive. Hence the decision: why not use the best of LCDs rather than an average quality AMOLED? After all, the problems of AMOLEDs are there for all to see: many complain about eye fatigue because of technology.

Finally another thing: few manufacturers use an LCD on high-end devices, so if those who use an OLED have problems, they may want to change to a top of the range with LCD screen like Xiaomi Mi 10T or Mi 10T Pro. What do you think? After this statement do you think that Xiaomi's choice is wrong?

I prefer the amoled screens but I can't stand the curved edges, they are the biggest useless ruckus they have invet, I hope this trend will soon pass.
however I do not understand why a flat amoled cannot be made, it would not violate any law of physics.

absolutely not, the first amoled or oled which is the first name they had were all flat, they made us the displays for an mp3 player, they made us and we make monitors and they are all flat, at first they were just flat so it's just and exclusively an aesthetic choice that has absolutely nothing functional, indeed creates a lot of problems. involuntary touches (ghot touches) makes the phone more slippery due to the material you find on the edge and makes them more prone to breakage of the screens. I documented there is not only one side... Read the rest »

if you hold the phone firmly in your hand and not only supported that as you move it falls to the ground (practically put your fingertips on the side edge) gives you the problem of involuntary touches?

Oh well, if he said that they did it to reduce costs and increase earnings, he certainly made a better figure than this pathetic mirror climb.
