This will be the Xiaomi extendable with retractable screen | Video

During the'Oppo Anthem Day 2020, the homonymous brand presented a revolutionary device. It is about Oppo, the first smartphone with a rollable and literally extendable screen. We refer you to our article for more details about the technology on board this device. In any case, it seems that other brands are focusing on this kind of smartphone and Xiaomi is no exception. In the following patent we will see what it is his idea of a retractable screen and how he thought of extending (in the true sense of the word) a mobile device.

This should be the first Xiaomi smartphone with an extendable and retractable screen: a concept video shows us the Mi Alpha R

Before seeing photos and videos of the concept, we underline that since it is a patent it does not necessarily mean that Xiaomi actually decides to launch such a device. THE costs for construction, we imagine, are very high and the technology is still immature. However, we users must not stop dreaming. The famous Jermaine Smit, Alias Concept Creator and internationally renowned YouTuber, decided to call this smartphone Mi Alpha R, where R certainly stands for "retractile". From what has been given to us, we understand that the operation is similar to that of Oppo X.

The video comes from a patent initially applied for toUSPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and subsequently to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) last October 28. What differentiates it from Oppo's revolutionary rollable smartphone is the presence of a double screen: one is on the back, allowing you to see information even when it is face down; the other is the extendable one, placed in the front part. This can be enlarged to nearly 200% in width. This particular device is obviously equipped with rear cameras, whose housing resembles that of Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, another concept put on the market at a museum price.

Needless to talk about specifications and other data. As anticipated, since it is a patent it is excluded that the Chinese giant will launch it in the immediate future or even poco away. But one thing is certain: smartphones of this kind need one Very unique UI. The MIUI we know, whether 12 or 13, cannot be integrated unless properly modified. After all, we have already seen that there is one MIUI dedicated to smartphones such as Mi MIX Alpha.
