According to the latest data published by IDC As of April 16, 2025, the smartphone market in China recorded a 3,3% year-on-year increase in shipments in the first quarter of 2025, significantly higher than the global growth rate in the same period. Among manufacturers, Xiaomi dominated the rankings, reaching the first position for both shipment volume and growth rate.
Xiaomi Surpasses Huawei, First in China for Smartphone Sales
Xiaomi recorded a total of 13,3 million units shipped, scoring a increase of 39,9% compared to the same period of the previous year. This remarkable achievement places it at the top of the ranking of manufacturers in China for the first quarter of 2025. Lu Weibing, an executive at Xiaomi, celebrated the milestone through a post on social media, thanking users for their support.
Xiaomi's success in the first quarter was largely attributed to the popularity of the Xiaomi 15 series. In particular, the previously launched Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro models have received exceptional market reception, with sales also benefiting from domestic subsidies. According to data provided by Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi 15 series activated sales exceeded 3,93 million units by week 14 (April 6), making it the leader among domestic flagships and even surpassing the Huawei Mate 70 series.
After Xiaomi, Huawei ranked second with 12,9 million units shipped, marking an annual growth of 10%. OPPO ranked third with 11,2 million units shipped, up 3,3% year-over-year, followed by vivo with 10,3 million units, up 2,3%. Apple, on the other hand, closed out the top 5 with 9,8 million units shipped, but suffered a 9% decline from the previous year, making it the only manufacturer in the top five to see a decline.
