In March of this year, at the launch conference of new spring products, Xiaomi officially released the first smartphone with a folding screen, the Mi MIX Fold.
Xiaomi patents new foldable similar to the Huawei Mate Xs
In the past, the popular site LetsGoDigital had revealed that Xiaomi plans to launch one or two new folding screen smartphones before the end of the year. In addition, it had also unveiled a patent for an advanced foldable concept phone from Xiaomi.
LetsGoDigital had pointed out that after launching its first folding screen device, the Mi MIX Fold, at this year's spring conference, Xiaomi will continue to launch at least one new product in the same series later this year.
Also LetsGoDigital had then shown us a patent for a Xiaomi smartphone that uses a folding system more or less similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The shape resembles that of a classic flip phone, the screen design sees a double hole, while in the back there are three cameras.
Well, today LetsGoDigital has instead released the patent for a product that could actually be Xiaomi's next fold.
As reported by LetsGoDigital, Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. filed with the Chinese Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA) on February 24, 2020 in Beijing and officially obtained the patent authorization on July 6, 2021.
As for the design, this new Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold sees a huge border on the left and the physical buttons are also present, a design similar to that of the Huawei Mate Xs. While for the display it uses an internal folding solution, but it seems to have a touch of Xiaomi's concept phone with surround screen, namely the Mi MIX Alpha. So we have a display that extends from the edge with the various buttons to the foldable's outer hinge.
Now it is not clear if Xiaomi will really use this design, but it is now almost certain that a new smartphone from the Mi MIX Fold series will be presented in August.
