Xiaomi Patents a New “Foldable”: It Breaks* But Doesn’t Bend

According to the patent description, the electronic device has many advantages, including simple structure, low production cost, small size, large screen, and easy assembly. In the normal state, the phone has a small-sized folding screen design, but in addition to the existing folding base, the two areas of the screen can be removed. In one of the patent drawings, the upper half of the screen can also be rotated, similar to the design of the Nokia 6260.
Chinese media verified public information and found that the patent describes a device that could revolutionize the foldable phone market. The ability to disassemble and reassemble the device offers unprecedented flexibility, allowing users to customize their phone to their specific needs. This could include replacing damaged parts or upgrading components without having to replace the entire device.

The site 91Mobile was the first to report this patent, noting that the overall design of the phone described in the patent resembles the MIX Flip, another foldable model from Xiaomi. The device features three sensors and an LED flash on the back, with the power button and volume rocker located on the right side of the phone.
Xiaomi’s innovation doesn’t stop there. The ability to rotate the top half of the screen, similar to the Nokia 6260, adds another layer of versatility. This design could allow users to use the phone in new and creative ways, improving the overall user experience.
