Xiaomi never stops innovating. So here is that after the folding smartphone patent that we saw yesterday in this article, today we are going to see yet another patent created by the giant of Chinese technology.
Xiaomi patents new smartphone with folding screen
The new patent comes directly from the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration). The design depicts a smartphone with a portion of the screen that seems to be folded back on itself to carry the front cameras also on the back.
This is a design never seen before and definitely one of the most controversial that we have seen in recent months. In fact, we cannot understand what is the usefulness in having a display that can be folded on itself only in the upper part to use the front cameras also on the back. This is especially true when the rear cameras are notoriously better than the front ones and therefore we would expect the opposite, that is to use the rear ones also in front.
In any case, remember that patents do not always turn into prototypes and prototypes do not always become real products; the latest Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha is an example. The Xiaomi concept phone that adopts a 360-degree screen called "Surround Display" that rotates around the side edges has in fact returned to being only a "concept" after an attempt to put it into mass production, precisely because of the difficulty in creating one smartphone with such an innovative design.
More than 5 months after the presentation, the smartphone has not yet gone on sale, either in China or in the rest of the world. There is even thought of his successor who should adopt the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 as a processor. So a more modern and performing CPU than the original Mi MIX Alpha that equips the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus.
