Xiaomi has finally started the global rollout of HyperOS 3, its new Android-based operating system, but not all devices will be able to benefit from the upcoming HyperOS 3.1 version. The company has confirmed that the update will be limited to models receiving Android 16, thus excluding all those still on Android 15.
No HyperOS 3.1 for these 23 Xiaomi models and POCO
The new version 3.1 introduces advanced features such as a new recent apps manager, smoother animations, faster app launches, and the new Hyper Island feature, inspired by Apple's Dynamic Island. However, these new features will only be available for devices updated to Android 16, leaving out a long list of models, even recent ones.
According to official sources and confirmed by portals such as Gizmochina, the following smartphones and tablets will not receive the update to HyperOS 3.1:
- Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, 12S, 12S Pro, 12S Ultra
- Xiaomi 12T, 12T Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 3
- Xiaomi Mix Fold 2
- Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14
- Redmi 13C
- Redmi K50 Ultra
- Redmi K60, K60 Pro
- Redmi Note 12 Turbo, Note 12T Pro
- Redmi Note 13 5G, Note 13R Pro
- POCO F5 5G, POCO F5 Pro
- POCO M6 Pro, POCO X6 Neo
Many of these devices are still relatively new and equipped with powerful hardware, which is why the decision has been disappointing among users. However, Xiaomi has chosen to align each HyperOS version with the corresponding Android version, making HyperOS 3.1 exclusive to Android 16.
Owners of one of the excluded devices will continue to receive security updates and optimizations on HyperOS 3, but will not have access to the new features introduced in version 3.1. Those who want to get the most out of the HyperOS experience will need to consider upgrading to a model compatible with Android 16.
