Xiaomi, The Chinese technology giant is making great strides in the automotive sector following the success of its first car model, the SU7. This car has already received over 100.000 confirmed orders and has exceeded 20.000 deliveries a couple of days ago. Xiaomi is therefore quickly establishing itself as a serious competitor in the automotive market.
Not just EVs, Xiaomi is also working on a hybrid car

The success of the SU7 has naturally shifted attention towards future Xiaomi models, and recently, it seems that the hybrid model of the company was accidentally revealed through an official publication. This leak came via a screenshot of a Xiaomi Auto job announcement, which he was looking for senior engineers for hardware thermal management for the company's first hybrid model. This model represents the first of Xiaomi's hybrid platform and aims to compete with the best-selling models on the market.
On Xiaomi's official recruitment website, there are several positions related to hybrid vehicles, including that of "vehicle and system engineer – thermal management system”, which requires an advanced level of education and significant experience in the automotive sector, especially in the integration of thermal management, with responsibility for the development of hybrid or extended range models.

Despite the excitement aroused by these revelations, Xiaomi has not yet disclosed official information on its second car. Xiaomi president Lei Jun avoided answering netizens' questions on this topic during a live broadcast on Douyin (the Chinese TikTok), but clarified that Xiaomi has no intention of producing off-road vehicles. However, there are rumors that Xiaomi's second vehicle will be an SUV, scheduled for later this year and going on sale in 2025. Additionally, Xiaomi is planning to launch a budget model priced at around 150.000 yuan, with an official launch scheduled for 2026.
These moves clearly indicate that Xiaomi is looking to diversify its offering and establish itself as a major automotive brand. With the automotive industry increasingly moving towards sustainable solutions, Xiaomi's entry into the hybrid vehicle market could not only increase competition but also accelerate the adoption of cleaner technologies. We just have to wait to find out more.
