Xiaomi responds to accusations of having "rigged" the benchmarks on Geekbench

Xiaomi is under indictment, so to speak. Yesterday one of the major representatives of the well-known benchmark portal Geekbench decided to throw a bomb about the company. Using a Xiaomi Mi 11, the penultimate top of the brand's range, he stated that his potential is completely limited when used in gaming. This does not mean that the smartphone lacks functionality or power, on the contrary. However, if some apps are used this does not happen, with games instead, it happens that a "limiter" comes into action. Why happens? But above all, what does the company have to say?

UPDATE: THE COMPANY REPLIES WITH A PRESS RELEASE. FIND EVERYTHING AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE

The accusation against Xiaomi comes from the head of Geekbench: the company limits the performance of its smartphones in the use of games. Because?

John Poole, one of the founders of the Geekbench, Has declared on Twitter that Xiaomi reduces the performance of smartphones when running certain applications, whose names are compared to a list in the operating system. For example, after changing the name of Geekbench to Fortnite, the performance of the Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphone in single-core is decreased by 30%, in multi-core by 15%.

The same behavior of the device in the benchmark was observed by changing its name to Genshin Impact. According to the developer, the company deliberately reduces computing power of smartphones while running resource-intensive software in order to reduce the heat product e increase its autonomy. However, there are two things that "do not add up": for the moment Xiaomi has not expressed itself, even if personally it would not seem too strange to me a limitation for these two reasons; secondly, it is difficult for a Geekbench exponent to "show up" in this way on social media for criticize the behavior of a company.

It is worth mentioning that previously, smartphone users Samsung they also noted the forced inclusion of a similar throttling algorithm. The company subsequently released a firmware update with the ability to "unlock" all rated performance of the hardware. OnePlus also, in a sense, he did the same thing.

SECURITY UPDATE TRAINING

Clearly Xiaomi replied about the accusations (if we can call them that) of having “rigged the benchmarks on Geekbench. Here are her words:

Xiaomi applies temperature control systems to ensure an optimal product experience, especially on demanding applications commonly used for extended periods. On many of our devices, we offer 3 performance modes, allowing users to adjust the balance between performance and energy efficiency. At the system level, there are many important factors that affect application performance optimizations, including power consumption, performance, and thermal impact.

In other words, the company wants secure users and their products. Just imagine if he didn't: just any user, a lover of games hardcore install an app and play with your smartphone. If this didn't have these "limiters", it would overheat causing potentially serious problems. One above all: overheating that can lead a smartphone to disintegrate components due to the high temperature. Here because internal manipulation is outside of the  warranty policies.
