Xiaomi Loock Smart Door Lock Q2 presented at 2999 Yuan (377 €)

After launching the new one Xiaomi Aqara Smart Door Lock S2 a couple of weeks ago, the Chinese company today delights us with another device of the same category on its crowdfunding platform, let's talk about the Xiaomi Lock Smart Door Lock Q2.

The Loock Smart Door Lock Q2 is a smart door lock that can be installed in your front door. The peculiarity of this version, however, is the incredible amount of functionality that we find inside. Starting with the various unlocking methods, which include scanning your fingerprints, via Bluetooth with your smartphone, with a password and finally with a simple key.

Specifically, the Q2 can be unlocked with fingerprints up to a maximum of five people, although it can register 30 in total (therefore 6 per person). The new fingerprint reader now has a round shape, which allows an increase in the recognition rate of 3.87%, while the supported age range has widened from 14-55 to 7-50 years. Furthermore, as with smartphones, the chip connected to the fingerprint sensor will improve over time, thanks to self-learning algorithms.

The second method of unlocking, that via smartphone, is also quite obvious. All you have to do is activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone, open the Xiaomi Mijia application and click on the screen button to unlock the lock.

As for the passwords, however, must be six digits and you can register up to 50. There is also support for fake passwords to mislead possible curious. Suppose that in that case, the device will give a green notification as if it had been unlocked but in reality it is not. These notifications of green and red are among other things a wonderful novelty about these lock. Around the handle there is in fact a disk that lights up depending on whether the correct imprint / password has been entered or not. If so, a green LED will light up, but in case of incorrect password it will turn red.

As a last means of unlocking we have instead a simple key that can be inserted in the lower part of the device, where there is also a microUSB socket to recharge the batteries in case of emergency (they last for 15 months). This choice makes the lock much more beautiful to the eye and we believe it is also a way to make change their habits once and for all, as the presence of a lock at sight could lead us to use the key instead of the other new methods authentication.

In addition to all these smart functions, the Q2 is above all a safe and durable lock. Under its minimal and elegant look we find a double-bearing mechanism produced in Germany that ensures up to 100 thousand openings and closures, then there is a Japanese Wanbao engine that among other things we also find in the shavers of Philips, this allows a service life of 82 years, in addition each engine is tested at least 1000 times before being inserted into the device.

Being a smart lock, it also needs a "brain". That's why we have a quad-core Zigbee processor, with an independent module design that makes it much safer and more difficult to hack.

The Loock Smart Door Lock Q2 uses a lock with drum with C-class technology and concealed design. Obviously this can be used when you discharge the internal battery and you do not have time or want to recharge with an external powerbank. Finally, the external part of the lock is made of a material resistant to both corrosion and low and high temperatures. The company says it has conducted rigorous testing with 80 hours of acidic salt fog experiments, both in a humid environment and in a dry environment, with temperatures ranging from -25 ° to 70 °.

As we said before, the Xiaomi Loock Smart Door Lock Q2 is now on sale on the Xiaomi platform at 2999 Yuan, about 377 €, so not cheap, but it's probably worth it all!

You have to understand how to integrate it in your own door. You should make doors with this factory-integrated lock.
