Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are official: 6,67 ″ at 90Hz display, 8K video and much more

After months of leak and several days of official teasers, today Xiaomi has finally announced the new Mi 10 series which includes both the basic and the Pro version; let's find out more!

Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are official: 6,67 ″ at 90Hz display, 8K video and much more

Let's start with the design, which as we can see reminds us very much of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 presented in November last year. We find in fact a curved screen on the sides, while on the back there are four cameras positioned vertically at the top left.

Going to the specifications instead, we find that the screen of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series is larger than the one on the Mi Note 10. Specifically we have a 6,67-inch diagonal panel, against the 6,47 ″ of the Mi Note 10. The resolution the screen is Full HD + (2340 x 1080), while the refresh rate has been increased to 90Hz, so we will have a smoother user experience than the common 60Hz screen. Finally, we have a touch screen polling rate of 180Hz, to increase the responsiveness of the touch, a maximum brightness of 1120 nit and a contrast of 5000000: 1. All the details just mentioned apply to both the standard and the Pro version, except for the maximum brightness which is instead of 1200 nits on the Pro, therefore we have a slightly different and more "professional" panel.

Turning to the internal hardware, both devices are powered by the new and high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 as a processor, supported by 8GB or 12GB of RAM type L and up to 256GB of internal memory UFS 3.0 (512GB for Mi 10 Pro). Two technologies that increase data transmission speed and at the same time improve energy consumption.

Basic version

As for the photographic sector, here we find the first differences, but let's start with the hardware in common. Both smartphones adopt a 108MP main camera, the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor, with a size of 1 / 1.3 inches, 1 / 1,69 focal aperture and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) stabilization, therefore optical stabilization. We then have an ultra wide angle secondary camera with 13MP resolution, then we have the third with 2MP resolution and macro lens, while the fourth is a depth sensor.

Pro Version

The Pro version differs with a 20MP ultra wide angle camera, a 12MP telephoto camera and an 8MP ultra telephoto camera with OIS to zoom from 0,6X up to 50X. In front, we find instead a 20MP camera to take high resolution selfies for both.

There will be support for recording 8K videos, while the images will be taken in HEIF format, to reduce the file size by at least 50% while maintaining the same image quality.

From the standpoint of autonomy, here we find another interesting difference. The Xiaomi Mi 10 in fact adopts a 4780mAh battery with support for fast charging via cable at 30W, with wireless charging up to 30W and reverse wireless charging (to recharge other wireless devices) of 10W. While the Mi 10 Pro equips a slightly smaller 4500mAh battery, but supports even faster charging, we are talking about 50W. 30W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging remain unchanged.

Also always to increase the autonomy, keeping the temperatures low, Xiaomi has equipped the Mi 10 series with a new dissipation system. It is a large-sized liquid-cooled plate (3000mm2), graphene and multilayer graphite.

As for connectivity, both the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro support dual mode 5G connectivity, therefore they work with SA and NSA networks. There is also the new WiFi 6 module that will allow the device to reach speeds never seen before while decreasing battery consumption. Among the other features we also find NFC, infrared ray emitters and dual frequency GPS.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro

Finally, let's go to see the prices. We have the Xiaomi Mi 10 which starts from 3999 Yuan (€ 526) for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, 4299 Yuan (€ 560) for 8GB 256GB, while if you want 12GB / 256GB you will have to pay 4699 Yuan (€ 618) . It will be possible to book the smartphone starting from February 14 (in China).

Lo Xiaomi Mi 10 has instead a starting price of 4999 Yuan Yuan (650 €) for the version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory, 5499 Yuan (720 €) for 12GB / 256GB and 5999 Yuan (790 €) for 12GB / 512GB.

Incredible that the top model has a smaller battery.
But oh well, I reject it a priori because curved screens just can't stand them.
At this point I will wait for the Redmi K30 Pro.
