Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Mi 11 Pro receive the firmware developed in collaboration with DxOMark

Xiaomi has just announced that both the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and the Mi 11 Pro (Chinese exclusive) will officially receive the camera firmware update developed together with the famous photo benchmarking platform DxOMark. The firmware update will arrive with MIUI in version 12.5.4.

The update includes 13 camera adjustments and optimizations based on some early feedback. The brand claims that the imaging performance has been significantly improved, so the common user will finally be able to try the same firmware that allowed the Mi 11 Ultra to become the King of DxOMark with 143 points.

Recall that on the hardware side, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra introduces a professional-level imaging system. The main wide-angle camera uses the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GN2 sensor, the largest in the industry, and both the telephoto and ultra-wide angle use the Sony IMX586 sensor, which was used as the main sensor in other devices. These two sensors are then coupled to lenses to support a 120X ultra-telephoto zoom and a super wide-angle zoom with a 128-degree angle of view.

All three cameras support 8K ultra definition shooting for unprecedented choice and overall image quality improvement. Xiaomi previously stated that "such a radical hardware combination has brought unprecedented challenges to the camera algorithm, system optimization and other fine-tuning activities."

As mentioned earlier, the camera firmware update developed alongside DxOMark brings 13 camera updates and optimizations. Wang Qian, the director of Xiaomi's camera department, compared four scenes on Weibo. That is, improving the image quality of the night scene, improving the video resolution of the night scene, optimizing the telephoto contrast and adjusting the tones for food photos.

These four scenes are only part of the 13 tweaks in the camera firmware. Users who participated in the internal test said after updating the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra there is also better performance in terms of focus, resolution and color.

In any case, the brand pointed out that the progress of the camera firmware is by no means finished. In the future, Xiaomi will continue to optimize the algorithm and continue to harness the powerful hardware potential of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra to offer a better photographic experience.

Xiaomi engineers also said that Xiaomi insists on communicating with users and listening to opinions and feedback to pursue flagship imaging.

For this reason, the Xiaomi community (Chinese) has opened a research and development communication channel for users. On the online page, engineers from the hardware department, algorithms, adjustment, image quality and other departments of the camera department are invited to take turns to compare users and directly address questions and feedback, actively listening to opinions for continuous optimization and allowing users to witness the progress of Xiaomi. It is thought that with this type of direct interaction, the quality of the imaging sector of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra will be the best ever produced by Xiaomi, so as to make it worthy of the name "Ultra".

In addition to the photographic sector as a true flagship, we remind you that the Mi 11 Ultra also comes with an additional display on the back that allows us to take selfie photos directly with the rear cameras, which as we have just mentioned, are the best in the sector.

The smartphone is powered by the high-performance Snapdragon 888 as a CPU, coupled with a minimum of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ultra-fast internal memory. Then we have a 6.81-inch AMOLED, with 2K resolution, a brightness of 1500nit and a refresh rate of 120Hz, together with a 5000mAh battery that supports fast charging of 67W both wired and wireless.
