Xiaomi Mi 6 cameras and Samsung Galaxy S8 comparison

Next week I will Xiaomi Mi 6 will debut in physical stores and online stores, but while the international magazine for economics and finance, Forbes, dedicates another article to the new Xiaomi flagship, making a comparison between the Mi 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 camera after having documented the exit Wednesday and have spoken very favorably.

The two flagships of Xiaomi and Samsung, though oriented to two different markets - we recall that there is still no launch in North America for Mi 6 and that the latter is sold at about half the price of the Galaxy S8 - are actually very similar. For example, both are the first smartphones equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, although some versions of the S8 mount the Samsung proprietary chip, the Exynos 8895, both phones have a sleek design and both phones come with very few terminals popular.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 has a dual 12Mp rear camera: the wide-angle lens has focal aperture f / 1.8 while the second lens is a f / 2.6 telephoto lens. We recall that this wide-angle and telephoto lens setting is the same as in the iPhone 7, while the Samsung comparison object comes with a single camera always from 12Mp but with f / 1.7 focal aperture.

Both phones can capture beautiful photos in daylight. By zooming in with a high resolution screen, however, you can see that the Xiaomi Mi 6 camera makes a little more detail.

In low light conditions, however, Samsung wins, albeit by poco.

Both of the above images resemble a lot, but by zooming you can notice that the photo taken with the S8 is slightly more detailed, with less noise.

The next shots were made using the zoox 2x. The Mi 6, equipped with a telephoto lens, can achieve 2x optical zoom while the Samsung offers a digital zoom. The results, however, seem quite similar.

This similarity in results probably depends on a technology not yet fully developed that leads to optical zoom not at the levels of the digital and non-digital cameras.

If the Samsung S8 is able to shoot beautiful photos in low light conditions, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has many more shooting modes, such as the bokeh effect (portrait mode) and much more.

The Samsung S8 camera can focus a lot faster than the Mi 6, but given the high value for money of the latter, you can not make a very simple and straightforward comparison.
