Xiaomi Mi 6X will have a Snapdragon 660 depowered according to XDA - Developers!

Only yesterday we were telling you about how the developers of the well-known XDA - Developers portal got their hands on the firmware of the Xiaomi Comet and Sirius, code names of the future Chinese company terminals, clarifying the Snapdragon 670 issue and its name change into Snapdragon 710.

After a few hours we find ourselves bringing back the aforementioned developers back into play, because, similarly to what happened with Comet and Sirius, they are again the harbingers of interesting details concerning the Xiaomi Mi 6X, the mid-high-end smartphone that is likely to be presented next April 25.

The modus operandi for the dissemination of indiscretions is the same as that adopted for the Xiaomi Comet and Sirius, or the publication of a brief but concise article on the blog of the well-known portal.

Xiaomi Mi 6X: confirmations of specifications by XDA!

The author is once again Mishaal Rahman, who informs us how he and his collaborators have got their hands on the official Xiaomi Mi 6X firmware. From a careful analysis of the codes contained within it, the developers of XDA have first confirmed all those specifications that had previously appeared on TENAA databases, ie a Full HD + display from 5.99 in, memory cuts from 4 + 32 GB, 6 + 64 GB and 6 + 128 GB, battery from 2.910 mAh and, unfortunately, the absence of the input jack 3.5 mm that will be replaced by a more modern USB Type - C port.

They then deepened the discussion on the hardware adding the numerous details extracted from the firmware, mainly concerning the configuration of the cameras, the type of display and the SoC which is equipped with this long-awaited Xiaomi Mi 6X.

As for the photographic industry, we have a dual rear camera consisting of a Sony IMX486 sensor from 12 megapixel and focal ratio f / 1.8 assisted by an IMX376 from 20 megapixel and f / 1.8 ratio. This last sensor is also present on the front of the device, but with a focal ratio of f / 2.2.

XDA developers added that the smartphone is capable of recording 4K video to 30 fps, which has support for the portrait mode, but also that it can not use the second camera to make optical zoomings, which is rather odd since this feature is present on the Xiaomi Mi 5X / Mi A1. Software side, the smartphone in question enjoys the support of the I Lens, the Chinese counterpart of Google Lens.

Snapdragon 660 depowered for Xiaomi Mi 6X!

Let's move on to the SoC that will manage the future Xiaomi Mi 6X. It was assumed the presence of the Snapdragon 626, a revised version and slightly enhanced Snap 625 on the previous model. Fortunately for us, it seems that those rumors were wrong because in the files of the firmware are found references to the much more powerful Snapdragon 660, the SoC that currently moves the Xiaomi Mi Note 3. Not all that glitters is gold, because it seems that Xiaomi wanted to opt for a weakened variant of this chip, set to a maximum clock of 2.0 GHz rather than the traditional 2.2 GHz.

We close this round of information with some details about the nature of the display, which seems to be a simple IPS unit due to the lack of references in the OLED panel code, the absence of NFC chips and the presence, instead, of an infrared door. Finally, the presence of the MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

What do you think of this Xiaomi Mi 6X? It looks like a really good device, but I do not hide that the Snapdragon 660 is weakened a bit 'nose. Xiaomi has probably wanted to keep down the price of its new terminal having to save on account of the component that most affects, together with the display, the cost of a smartphone, precisely the SoC.

Could it be that they also did it to limit consumption? A 6 ″ full hd display with a 2900 battery is not the best, quite the contrary ...
