In recent months it seems to have become fashionable to take pictures of the moon from your smartphone. About that, Xiaomi had released an update on the Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship which makes this much simpler with a special mode.
The function is called "Moon Mode" and it comes into action automatically once the camera application is opened, the moon is framed and AI camera mode is activated. Thanks to artificial intelligence the subject (the moon) will then be recognized and after focusing it is possible to set a zoom up to 4x. At that point the Moon Mode will be shown as active and you can start taking pictures.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE: Here comes the Moon Mode to take pictures of the moon
The main advantage of the moon mode feature is that there is no need to set focus manually, the same is true for ISO, shutter speed and white balance. So even a user with no experience in photography can take great photos of the moon, especially without needing a tripod.
As we said before, this feature was introduced on the Xiaomi Mi 9 some time ago, but today it also comes on the younger brother, or the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE.
In fact, the hardware on the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is very similar to that of the admiral smartphone. The main camera is in fact the same, that is a Sony IMX586 sensor from 48MP, the difference instead is in the other two, with the telephoto from "only" 8MP (12MP on the Mi 9) and 13MP for the ultra wide-angle lens (16MP on the Mi 9).
In any case, the update that brings the Moon Mode on the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is MUI V10.3.10 and is now live on the Chinese Stable ROM, so in a few days it should also arrive on the Global for those who bought it outside China.
