Xiaomi has just presented the new generation of its Mi AI Speaker which, especially in China, is a must have in any home. The new product will be sold in the Asian country at a price of 199 yuan, about 26 euros at the current exchange rate.
Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker 2nd gen presented in China: now smarter and with improved audio
The main changes from the previous generation relate to sound quality and a better Internet of Things (IoT) standard experience.
So let's start with the audio of the Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker which adopts a 360-degree sound, with support for use in stereo and a quality audio chip. In particular, these are professional-grade audio chips produced by Texas Instruments, we are talking about the TAS5805 chip, with support for automatic gain control and a 15-frequency audio balance. Added to this is a professional DTS tuning and different audio modes depending on the uses.
The reproduction frequency has also been improved, allowing now deeper bass.
As for the audio input instead, the speaker with artificial intelligence has six microphones arranged in a circle with Beamforming technology, which allows the speaker to understand where the audio comes from and therefore be able to improve voice recognition.
For connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker comes with Bluetooth Mesh Gateway technology that allows us to connect the speaker to other gadgets in the house such as locks or smart lights. So instead of using WiFi, it will be possible to connect several smart devices to each other through the Bluetooth Mesh connection.
In addition to Bluetooth connectivity, the Xiaomi speaker can then be connected directly to a laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone through the 3,5mm audio port that we find on the back.
Finally, according to Gizmochina, the speaker now has access to over 271 million smart devices and also has support for 89 IoT platforms, including Philips and Op.
