The highly anticipated has made its debut on the Chinese market a few days ago Mi Band 5, the smartband that prefigures the new queen of the sector. The heir of the 4 has from its numerous new features even if in the overseas version there are no features that we expected. One of these is the presence of the SP02 sensor, or the one that allows you to control the blood oxygenation level. But those who have been caught by an "attack of disappointment" can start to hope again as there are very important news about the variants that this smartband will provide.
It seems that the new Mi Band 5 will have a Pro variant and a Lite: but how will they differ? And above all will both be destined for our market?
The question we ask ourselves first, even before seeing the code inside the app I Wear, is: will they also arrive in the European market? As we know the basic version will be with us next month (we told you about it in this article) but we also know that in India there is an exclusive "castrated" version of the Mi Band 3, or the I Band 3i. Without raising an unnecessary fuss, we can assume that the Pro and Lite variants that we are going to see between poco, will be destined for other markets and not exclusively in Europe. Nothing is certain, but now let's see the concrete data.

If you remember, before the official launch we saw that the code name of the smartband in question was just right Kongming. To be precise, the product had two variants, one with and one without NFC e Kongming corresponded to the chip model for contactless payments and sending data. In the left image we see how in the Mi Wear code, studied by the reliable MagicalUnicorn di GeekDoing, the wording “Lite"; in the same way on the right we see (below) the wording “Pro". For the sake of completeness of information, it is fair to advise that even one seems to be prevented "L" version but it is almost useless to talk about it since it seems to be destined only for the Chinese market.
Ultimately this is what results from the data in our possession:
- Europe: we will have the standard variant, the Pro and the Lite;
- China: you can count on the standard variant and the L;
At this point we just have to guess the differences between these three variants intended for our market. Possibly the Pro can count on the highly anticipated SP02 sensor for the control of oxygen in the blood; in a similar way we can assume that only the standard and Pro version will have the NFC chip available which will therefore be missing on the Lite. In fact, we know that the Lite versions are the most "castrated" ones and therefore with less features.
Those which we have outlined above only only hypotheses and do not necessarily correspond to reality. We await official communications.
