We are not in the skin: in a few hours our brand will officially announce in Europe, and therefore in Italy, the long-awaited Xiaomi Mi Band 5. We know that with her there will be many other products like My TV Stick, scooters, a new smartphone and whoever has more will put more. The entire Mi ecosystem will benefit from the new products. But here we focus on one particular product, namely the new one smartband: this was put under pressure and was victim of a brutal teardown who exposed her in all respects.
Here is the first teardown (not by JerryRigEverything) of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5: we can say with absolute certainty that it is solid and difficult to open!
Based on what we know, the new one Mi Band 5 by Xiaomi (built however by Huami) should enjoy certification IP68 that the protects against water infiltration even up to 50 meters deep. Starting from this data, we can immediately understand how the product is solid and not a "cheap game". In fact, this certification allows all hinges to be welded to perfection. This leads to one not indifferent difficulty in opening the egg which contains all the hardware compartment.
As for the previous model, there are no screws or similar materials to fix the two parts of the egg, upper and lower. This means that a considerable use (almost abuse) of glue to keep the two halves together. In fact, the Youtuber in question used one Thermal gun to dissolve the glue in the joints in order to open the egg. You can immediately notice the difficulty in detaching the two parts: this is a symptom of good construction that reassures us on solidity of the Mi Band 5.
Inside the product, which promises to cost about 40 € at least in its standard version, we find everything miniature hardware: card mother, battery from 125 mAh and heart rate sensor. Unfortunately there is no trace of the chip NFC: the last word is not yet said, however, since the Mi Band of the video is in its Chinese version. Who knows Xiaomi doesn't surprise us at the last minute ...
