Xiaomi continues to strengthen its strategy in the field of artificial intelligence and, according to the latest rumors, is developing a new intelligent assistant called Mi ChatThis project, leaked through a post on the WeChat account “Du Jia,” appears to have already reached a first working version, a sign that the official launch could be near.
Xiaomi Mi Chat: The New AI Assistant Is Coming

At the heart of Mi Chat will be MiMo-7B-RL, a proprietary language model from Xiaomi launched in early 2025. Despite having “only” 7 billion parameters, MiMo has already proven that it can outperform larger competitors like OpenAI o1-mini and Alibaba Qwen QwQ-32B-Preview in key benchmarks, including AIME 24/25 and LiveCodeBench v5.
These results confirm Xiaomi's ability to optimize the efficiency of its models, offering high-end performance with a more streamlined approach. The company also stated that it intends to further scale the model, making it even more powerful and versatile.
Mi Chat will be the front-end interface for the MiMo model, allowing users to access advanced thinking and everyday interaction features. The goal is to integrate AI not only into smartphones but also into the broader ecosystem that Xiaomi defines as "Human x Car x Home," a connected environment that unites people, cars, and smart homes.
This vision aims to make artificial intelligence an integral part of everyday life, simplifying tasks, improving productivity, and offering new ways to interact with devices.
Lu Weibing, Partner and President of Xiaomi, confirmed that the company has been investing significantly in the development of large-scale models for several quarters. He emphasized that progress has exceeded expectations and that the next strategic goal will be the deep integration of AI into the physical world.
Founder Lei Jun is also directly involved in strengthening the AI team. Among the key figures is Luo Fuli, formerly of DeepSeek, who contributed to the MiMo division and co-authored a recent scientific publication in collaboration with Peking University.
Further details about Mi Chat will be revealed on December 17, 2025, during Xiaomi’s Human Car Home Ecosystem Partner Conference in Beijing, where Lu Weibing and Luo Fuli will officially present the new features.
