Our journey continues inside the Xiaomi Mi Fan Festival 2020 which has already led us to the discovery of different gadgets such as the Redmi band and RedmiBook 14 Ryzen Edition, with yet another product that is added to the ecosystem of Xiaomi devices for children, we are talking about the new Xiaomi Mi Kids Watch 4 and Mi Kids Watch 4 Pro.

The fourth generation of this series of smartwatch now become a must-have in the Asian country comes with a 1,78-inch diagonal display, 368 x 448 pixels resolution, a PPI (ratio pixel per inch) of 326 and AMOLED technology, therefore more premium than its predecessors. The display is also touch type and is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 glass to help against scratches and bumps.
Both smartwatches are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500, or a wearable processor released in 2018, but which should still be sufficient on a children's smartwatch. While as regards the memory we find 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory of the eMMC type (not expandable).
From an autonomy point of view, the Mi Kids Watch 4 series comes with a 920mAh battery for up to 8 days of autonomy. These numbers include movement tracking and sleep tracking.
To keep children safe, or at least easily accessible via video call, Xiaomi has decided to equip smartwatches with two cameras. We have the Mi Kids Watch 4 base which adopts a 5MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera, while the Mi Kids 4 Pro comes with an 8MP rear camera with an focal aperture of f / 2.2 and a field of view of 84.9 degrees, and a front with focal aperture of f / 2.4 and field of view of 82 degrees.
Smartwatches are compatible with China Telecom and China Unicom's 4G VoLTE networks thanks to support for eSIM. Always for connectivity, both devices support Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and NFC networks. While for GPS we have "only" GPS + GLONASS + BEIDOU on the basic version and GPS Dual Frequency (L1 + L5) on the Pro version.
Among the other features we have the waterproofing that makes them "swimming-proof" up to 20 meters deep, a speaker and a microphone which obviously will be used during calls between children and parents.
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi Kids Watch 4 and 4 Pro will be available in China in blue and pink colors starting from April 9th. While as regards prices, the two smartwatches will cost respectively 899 yuan (117 €) and 1299 yuan (169 €).
