This morning, the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, revealed on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter) that Xiaomi has started a somewhat "crazy" test and invited everyone to check the folding resistance of the Mi MIX FOLD.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold: the live 24/7 starts with the foldable stress test
The brand is in fact about to start a live uninterrupted "abuse" 24 hours a day and for 24 days, which will begin tonight at 7:20 (in China).
Xiaomi will run a continuous test with a screen closing and opening every 1,6 seconds, simulating a duration of 10 years.
During the launch press conference of the Mi MIX Fold, Lei Jun had stated that the foldable has a very precise and resistant mechanism. This would have passed a reliability test of 200.000 folds for the display and 1 million times for the hidden mechanism. At the same time, the new mechanism of the Mi MIX Fold sees a weight reduction of 27% compared to traditional hinges. With the back of the screen which is covered with non-magnetic high strength steel, which makes it flatter and more durable.
So this live test should undoubtedly demonstrate what Xiaomi stated during the official presentation.
Recall that the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold is the first foldable smartphone from Xiaomi and that tomorrow it will officially go on sale in China at the price of 9999 yuan, about 1300 euros at the exchange rate. Despite the high price point, it is still the cheapest folding screen device on the market.

Xiaomi has just communicated that the live started a few days ago has just passed a milestone, that is, the violent folding test of the Xiaomi Mi MIX FOLD has exceeded 200.000 times and has been folded continuously for 89 hours.
As revealed by the brand, this is equivalent to "normal" use of about 5,4 years.
As mentioned at the beginning of this post, the smartphone will be tested for a total of 7 days and 24 hours a day. It will also be folded every 24 seconds for the duration of the test and according to Xiaomi this is equivalent to normal use of 1,6 years.
It is interesting to note that the live broadcast room of the video from Lei Jun's account, the Xiaomi CEO, already has 1,44 million people who have witnessed this special live broadcast of the stress test.
In any case, the live broadcast is currently still in progress, and interested netizens can search the Lei Jun video on WeChat to watch it, but sadly this seems to be exclusive to Chinese users.
