Xiaomi Mi Watch presented with eSIM 4G and 36 hours of autonomy

Together with the Xiaomi CC9 Pro which we saw a few minutes ago, even the Xiaomi Mi Watch has just been officially launched in China. This is the first real smartwatch presented by the Chinese technology giant that has decided to enter this sector with a high-end wearable.

The Mi Watch in fact equips the best hardware in circulation as far as the wearable segment is concerned, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 as a processor in the version with support for the 4G network. There is also an eSIM, or a virtual SIM that will allow us to connect the smartphone to the internet, receive and make calls without having to insert a real SIM.

Then there are other connection technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth and of course the very useful NFC module to make payments directly from the smartwatch.

Another component of real flagship in this Mi Watch is the battery. As anticipated a few days ago in fact, the wearable arrives with a large battery from 570mAh, which thanks to the very efficient chipset can bring up to 36 hours of autonomy, incidentally double compared to the Apple Watch (18 hours declared autonomy).

Why do we mention the Apple Watch? Well because the Xiaomi Mi Watch has some features in common with the smartwatch of the American giant. Like the Digital Crown (digital crown) on the right side of the case, the microphone and the only other physical button just below.

But the similarities end here, the Xiaomi Mi Watch adopts in fact an 1,78 inch display of AMOLED type with a ratio of 326PPI (Pixel per Inch) and a total size of 44mm.

As for materials, on the other hand, we have an aluminum alloy case with a matte finish and created with a high-precision sandblasting process. We then find a layer of glass at the top with curved edges and finally a ceramic back cover for a more premium look & feel. The straps are instead in an anti-sweat and anti-bacterial rubber to avoid possible rashes.

Xiaomi Mi Watch arrives with MIUI For Watch

As we learned earlier, the Xiaomi Mi Watch runs with MIUI For Watch, which is a version of the Xiaomi home operating system with a modified interface for use on a smartwatch. MIUI For Watch will support more than 40 applications at launch, although mainly Chinese apps, and we will have a dedicated store to download many more in the future. Among the most interesting apps we have the one that allows us to play streaming music directly from the smartwatch, to then be heard both on the wearable through the integrated speaker, and on headphones connected via Bluetooth connection, so as if it were a smartphone.

Other features on the Mi Watch include a GPS module, a third-generation heart rate sensor, compass, barometer, a six-axis motion sensor and the FIRSTBEAT algorithm for analyzing our health status, including the amount of oxygen in the blood.

The Xiaomi Mi Watch was launched in China at the price of 1299 Yuan, or on the 160 euros at current exchange rates. At the moment we do not know if an international version will be presented and at what price.

The Mi Watch will also be available in another more premium variant called "Exclusive Edition". As the name suggests it is an exclusive and limited version in terms of availability. In fact, we will only have 30 thousand units sold worldwide.

The peculiarity of the Mi Watch Exclusive Edition lies in the use of a highly polished stainless steel case, a more premium sapphire crystal to cover the dial and a stainless steel strap. We will then have a magnetic charger, a laser-engraved limited edition number, a suede cloth to clean the watch and a certificate tag.

The Xiaomi Mi Watch Exclusive Edition will be sold at 1999 Yuan, around 260 euros at current exchange rates.
