There are only five days to go before the official presentation of the new Xiaomi Mi TV 5 series and therefore, as always happens, the Chinese brand anticipates us what will be the main features of a product that will undoubtedly dominate the Chinese market.
Xiaomi has indeed unveiled the technologies that will power the new fifth-generation TV line. In particular we talk about the integrated chipset and other fundamental components in a smart TV.
Xiaomi Mi TV 5: They will have a 12nm chip and 8K video support
So let's start with the CPU that Xiaomi confirms it's an Amlogic T972, a chip developed by our favorite brand in cooperation with Amlogic. The processor adopts an architecture with four Cortex-A55 cores with a maximum frequency of 1,9Ghz. We therefore have an increase of approximately 63% of the CPU clock compared to the previous Amologic T962.
At the same time, the Amlogic T972 integrates approximately 1,5 billion transistors, which is three times greater than its predecessor. While regarding the integrated graphics chip, we have an upgrade from Mali 450 to the more modern Mali G31, the latter supports the new OpenGL ES 3,2 and Vulkan 1,1 APIs. Finally, we find 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC internal memory.
From the point of view of performance, however, the Amlogic T972 supports a maximum resolution of 8K (7680 × 4320) at 10bit and YUV4: 2: 0 with HDR video decoding with wide color gamut. Specifically, we have an improvement of each color from the 256 levels of the 8bit standard to the 1024 levels of the 10bit. In any case, the 972th generation Amologic TXNUMX chip was already present on the latest Xiaomi Mi TV Pro series bringing excellent progress in picture quality.
In addition to the new high-performance chip, as revealed the other day we already know that TVs will adopt the technology Quantum Dot Display up to a maximum resolution of 4K. We will then have coverage of the NTSC color range of up to 108% and MEMC compression technology to improve image fluidity and increase detail.
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi TV 5 adopt a completely metallic chassis with the writing "Designed by Xiaomi" in one of the side edges. A detail that could make us think of an international launch, why write it in English on a TV available only in China? But perhaps it is better not to think about it at least until Xiaomi officially confirms it.
