Xiaomi Mi TV Box 5 and 5 Max: Surprisingly, Two New TV Boxes and Yes, Without Android TV

After New Mini Version TV Box Launched Globally, the Chinese company has decided to present two new products of the same type: Xiaomi Mi TV Box 5 and 5 Max. As always, they promise top-of-the-range performance at an almost ridiculous price. A basic model and a more advanced one, both compatible with the most advanced audio-video technologies. But the real surprise is not only in the specifications.

Xiaomi Mi TV Box 5 and 5 Max Official: Specs and Prices

Instead of Google's operating system, Xiaomi has opted for HyperOS, the proprietary interface already introduced on other devices of the brand ecosystem. A move that marks a clear direction: greater control over the user experience and a closer integration with its own services, first and foremost XiaoAi, the voice assistant included.

The technical sheet, in any case, does not disappoint those looking for power and compatibility. Both models are based on a processor ARM Cortex-A55 quad core, already known for its energy efficiency and ability to handle high-resolution streaming. And speaking of video, both boxes support content up to 4K, with technologies Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos e DTS: X for a truly complete audio-video sector.

all the features of xiaomi mi tv box 5

Where the two versions differ is in the memory configuration. Xiaomi Mi TV Box 5 offers 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, a sufficient equipment for standard use. The Xiaomi Mi TV Box 5 Max model, on the other hand, doubles both figures: 4GB RAM and 64GB internal space.

There are no compromises on the connectivity front either: Wi-Fi 6 e Bluetooth 5.2 They guarantee modern performance, ready for home environments full of connected devices. It is not just a little box to connect to the TV to have more digital services.

Availability and price

Although the Xiaomi Mi TV Box 5 and 5 Max are only available in China, we thought it was interesting to talk about the price. We are talking about 299 yuan for the basic model (about €40 at the current exchange rate) and 499 yuan for the Max (about €70). A market segment that has so far offered little in terms of overall quality, and which could now prove more interesting.
