Not long ago the Chinese giant wanted to amaze the world with first transparent TV in the world. Before LG, which has from poco presented in Asia the TV with rollable panel, Xiaomi has decided to invest a lot in this product that seems to have had a resounding success in China. But will the same be true in Europe? We don't know, just as we don't know if the product will really arrive. I personally believe not. But there is a famous YouTuber who has decided to buy Xiaomi Mi TV LUX from China, driven by curiosity.
Xiaomi Mi TV LUX seen up close is not that great: bad image quality even if it makes a bad impression
How the experience of Linus Tech Tips with the Xiaomi Mi TV LUX? Not good at all. L'WOW effect it was insured, sure, but as we knew there image quality did not leave its mark. But let's start from the beginning, just for completeness. The huge package arrived in a wooden box fixed with screws, this to fix the TV full glass from any accidental damage during transport. Right from the start, the uncertainty of the famous YouTuber shows up: the price is excessively high (but go?) but the curiosity was too much.
Once opened, the device was placed safely on a table and the protective film was removed. A check up before turning it on: 55 ″ full screen e 5.7 mm thick, 1.07 billion primary colors, 3% DCI-P93 color gamut and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The specifications are those of a top-of-the-range TV. In the lower part there is the base, with the brain of the device. Obviously it is all covered by a metal body but outside, in the back, they are very evident all ports to connect the TV.
The biggest flaw of this product is the pixel size. This is because only half of the panel is covered in pixels, while the other half is left completely transparent. But if these pixels are very thin from afar, at a close look they are huge and the image quality is consequently not the best. But we let you keep watching the video. Let us know what you think!
