It will fit perfectly within Xiaomi's aesthetic policy, since it can also be inserted inside the smartphone and not necessarily externally.
Certainly, the delay in presenting Xiaomi Mi5 is certainly not something that the Chinese leadership wanted. The problem, however, is to be found in the mass production of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 which, in order to avoid unpleasant problems like those of the current Snapdragon 810, has undergone many rigorous testing before approving its production.
