Android 7.0, better known as Nougat, has been on the market for some time now, but has not yet been made available for numerous smartphones and tablets. Several Xiaomi devices, among which Mi5, Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 Prime stand out, are still waiting for a firmware update. But there is good news: owners of the three models just mentioned will almost certainly be able to take advantage of the update within the year. The registrations for the beta testing phase of the Mi 5 update to Nougat were held between 26 and 30 November and it is therefore very likely that the final version of the firmware will be released very soon. For Redmi 4 Prime and Redmi Note 4 there have been no official announcements, but the experts assure that the update will arrive, since the two models in question are relatively new (the first is available from November, the second from August) and there it is enough time to develop a firmware version defined before the end of the canonical 18 months of support that should be guaranteed by Google partners. The two devices are also equipped with more than decent hardware (Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 and Helio X20 respectively) and are perfectly capable of supporting Nougat. It is very likely that the update of these two smartphones will arrive around the end of May, in conjunction with the update to MIUI 9.
