For a Xiaomi fan like me the exit of the Xiaomi Mi9 it is one of the most important events of the year. Thanks to Grossoshop this year I had the chance to try this concentrate of technology very quickly after the official presentation. Do you think I liked it?
The device that I was lucky enough to try at this time is in what is perhaps universally recognized as the more beautiful than the Mi9, the Ocean Blue.
During the unboxing I got a bit of enthusiasm and, once the package was opened, I didn't understand anything anymore. THE rainbow reflections of this Ocean Blue they leave breathless and it took me a few minutes before coming to my senses. 🙂
Let's start by order.
Xiaomi Mi9 - Design
It is true that the gradient coloring it has also been used by other smartphones, but the multicolor reflections that they have managed to obtain thanks to the patented body treatment are really noteworthy.
Color apart (which however is a beautiful part) the device is very soft and sinuous. It's all a curve.
Il display is rounded at the four corners and the glass has curl 2.5D. The edges are rounded and the entire rear body is characterized by a continuous curve from side to side.
The dimensions are generous: 157.5 x 74.7 x 7.6 mm
Il weight of 173g feels, the Mi9 is certainly not a feather. But for a display by 6.39 there are also a few grams more because the weight is very well distributed and the body treatment makes the general grip quite good.
Standing out in the front is the Notch to drop already seen in the RedMi Note 7 and in Mi Play. Notch that has been criticized at design level and this has prompted Xiaomi to release an update that uses the absolute blacks of the AMOLED screen to "soften" the drop making it de facto identical to that of the OnePlus 6T.
Compared to the Xiaomi Mi8 the aesthetic leap in quality is evident. Huge and bulky street notch and thin the frames, especially the lower one coming to one "Screen To Body Ratio" of 90.7%.
The rear body is definitely "smooth" due to the presence of the sole camera lock and double LED flash. The fingerprint reader has been moved below the display to the delight of all of us technophiles.
Compared to the other devices of the Xiaomi family, the only novelty on the side body is the presence, on the left, of a button dedicated to the virtual assistant which, in the Chinese version will activate the MI-AI, but with ROM GLOBAL it will activate our beloved Google Assistant.
Obviously there is a door USB Type-C, infrared port and our dear and beloved Jack is missing.
Xiaomi Mi9 - Display
The display of the Xiaomi Mi9 is decidedly generous. Its 6.39 inches diagonal place the device among the so-called phablet leaving the nostalgic like me with a certain bitterness in my mouth.
But I know that we will have to do it also in the light of the last rumors that kill our hope of continuing to see "compact" smartphones on the shelves of our favorite stores.
Despite this digression, the SUPER AMOLED FHD + panel marked Samsung is the most beautiful on the market: i colors are brilliant, the viewing angle is almost total and the touch is definitely responsive and precise.
Noteworthy is that this AMOLED coupled with the DARK MODE manages to save a lot of battery even with intensive use of AMBIENT DISPLAY.
Xiaomi Mi9 - Performances
In terms of performances, in reality there is not much to say except one thing: IT IS A MONSTER OF POWER!
The Xiaomi Mi9 is not only the most powerful smartphone I've ever used, but it's also the most powerful smartphone in the world! You can read the article here.
Here the video of the AnTuTu performances of the Xiaomi Mi9.
Xiaomi Mi9 - Battery
La battery from 3300mah made many people turn up their nose during the presentation. Many were also burned by the Xiaomi Mi8 battery which unfortunately did not live up to expectations.
But I have to say that this time the Xiaomi is able to take a respectable autonomy from these 3300mah.
It is certainly not a Battery Phone but he has endured stressful days with ease coming up to 6 hours and 30 of display on exceeding my wildest expectations.
Speaking of battery, moreover, how not to mention the fact that the Mi9 is equipped with fast charge QuickCharge 4.0 from 28W wired (even if in the box we find an 18W battery charger which in any case fully charges the battery in about 45minutes).
Our Xiaomi Mi9 is also equipped with the wireless charging best performing on the market today. Ben 20W wireless charging.
Xiaomi Mi9 - Camera
In this respect, real debates have opened up. On the one hand, those who say that the camera of the Mi9 is exceptional, on the other hand who says it's crap.
In this article you can see my considerations.
What was your idea? Do the photographic performances of the Mi9 satisfy you?
Xiaomi Mi9 - Conclusions
As you may have noticed this I really enjoyed Xiaomi Mi9.
In addition to what we have seen we must not forget that the xiaomi in this latest model wanted to include so much stuff:
- Quick Charge 4 Quick Charge with charging wired to 28W
- Wireless charging
- Infrared door (disappeared in the previous model)
- Front fingerprint reader (which works very well)
- Dual GPS
- Wide Angle Camera
What to say, it has pretty much everything you could want in a smartphone.
Xiaomi Mi9 - Price
This is the last aspect (but one of the most important) to talk about.
For the first time in its history Xiaomi has tried to make a global simultaneous launch making available both the same time Chinese versions that GLOBAL of this Xiaomi Mi9.
Above all, the global market was attacked with a very low launch price: only 449 euro!
The price range between GLOBAL and CHINA is thinning although, for the Asian market, more models are currently available like the 8 / 128 Blue reviewed by us.
