Xiaomi Mijia Ninebot Balance Scooter presented in China at 2299 Yuan (296 €)

The takeover of Xiaomi in the world of electric transport does not seem to stop and after having presented a pair of electric shoes just a week ago, today the brand returns to talk about itself with a new version of the Xiaomi Mijia Ninebot Balance Scooter.

This new variant was created in collaboration with the Mijia brand and has a more modern design and a slightly off-road look, even if it is not promoted for uses outside the cities.

The new model is also safer thanks to a new style of tires, more pronounced grooves, greater protection for the wheels. Finally, the new coloration typical of the Mijia brand, namely black and red, makes it even more appealing.

Returning to the wheels, these have a size of 10,5 inches and an innovative anti-slip finish to provide greater safety, especially in case of rain. Consequently also increases the comfort during the use that will allow us to go faster where before maybe we had more fears.

In addition to the new wheels, Mijia's Ninebot also comes with a new bracket for "parking" the scooter when in off mode. An addition does not give poco since until now it had to be leaned against a wall or left on the ground risking to damage it. We also have a new lever on which to place a hand for easier use at least at the beginning. This lever is foldable and therefore can be hidden once a certain level of familiarity is reached.

Another interesting change is that of materials. The Ninebot is now built with a magnesium alloy to reduce the overall weight of the machinery. Now it only weighs 13,7Kg but still manages to carry people up to a weight of 85Kg.

As for the engines, we find two (one wheel) from 350W for a total power of 700W, allowing the scooter to be able to overcome climbs with a gradient of 15 degrees.

Finally, on the new Ninebot we find a system of RGB LED lights that can therefore change color. In particular, these change in the event of acceleration, when turning left or right and in the event of braking.

The Xiaomi Mijia Ninebot Balance Scooter is now on sale in China on the Xiaomi website at the 2299 Yuan figure, or on the 296 euros at current exchange rates. So 300 Yuan (38 €) is cheaper than the Ninebot "base" which is sold at 1999 Yuan (257 €) instead.

To understand the usefulness of these means you have to try them. I have always used the Segway and for 7 months the Ninebot mini plus and in terms of portability the mini plus also beats the classic Segway. When I travel around my country or go to the city center I can't do without it, I travel faster than traffic and I have fun too!

Certainly! I have been riding a Segway since 2003 and have never had any accidents since. Even one day I was traveling on a cycle path at 20 km per hour next to a parking lot, the track was all painted in red with fresh paint. Suddenly an oncoming car turned to enter the parking lot 2 meters in front of me and instinctively I threw myself back as if I had been running with my feet. I was leaning at 45 degrees and the tires made the classic screech of hard braking and stopped in poco more than a meter!... Read the rest »
