After weeks, if not months, of leaks and rumors, one of the most awaited Xiaomi products of recent times has finally been announced today in China, let's talk about the Xiaomi MiWiFi Mesh Router.
The new Xiaomi router, as the name suggests, supports Mesh technology, this allows creating a connection to multiple hybrid channels with four independent signal amplifiers. We will therefore have complete WiFi coverage in any type of home, even large ones.

Now let's see what hardware we find on board the Xiaomi MiWiFi Mesh Router, starting from the processor, that is a Qualcomm IPQ4019 quad core, accompanied by 256MB of RAM and an internal memory of 128MB. The router supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks, 5GHz, Gigabit power line and has several Ethernet ports. The maximum speed that can be reached by the system is theoretically 2567Mbps, this if the Ethernet port is used to connect both the external internet network and the device to be tested.
The Xiaomi router supports the 802.11k protocol, this allows your smartphone (for example) to be able to connect to different access points on the Mesh network without ever disconnecting. Yes, you read that right, the Mesh network with the exact same ID will allow you to connect up to 248 devices to the nearest router automatically, so there will be no more areas of the house with bad connectivity.
Moreover, thanks to the native support for the Power Line technology, it is possible to pass the signal through thicker walls, without any slowing down for the end user.
From the design point of view instead, the Xiaomi MiWiFi Mesh Router arrives with a cylindrical “chimney” body, this allows to dissipate heat more easily. Then there is an internal heat sink in metal treated with layers of nano-materials with a high dissipating power, so we won't have overheating even on the hottest summer days.
