As some of you will remember, Xiaomi presented the MIX Alpha in September 2019, the first smartphone in the world with a surround screen if not for the camera module on the back. One of the most innovative technological products ever.
Xiaomi MIX Alpha 2: patented a smartphone with a 360-degree surround screen
Unfortunately, the Xiaomi MIX Alpha was never listed after its presentation. The president of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, had also publicly stated that it was a concept phone and that it was then abandoned. However, although the Xiaomi MIX Alpha has been officially put aside, the research and development of the Xiaomi team on the surround screen has never ended. In the last two years, several new information about the Xiaomi surround screen have leaked.
In this regard, today we are going to see the latest update regarding the possible design of the next Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha 2. This is a patent that would show us the second generation of the Mi MIX Alpha with its surround screen similar to that of the previous generation, but the screen ratio is further improved. In fact, the large vertical black bar that enclosed the camera module has been removed, so as to achieve a truly 360-degree coverage of the device.
As for the camera module, the Mi MIX Alpha 2 appears to use a top notch with a total of three cameras positioned horizontally. A different design from the one leaked previously which instead showed us a camera module hidden inside the upper edge of the smartphone and with a pop-up mechanism. So, depending on your taste, this patent might be more welcome.
In any case, we note that the next Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha 2 is currently only in the initial development phase and is still a long way from the official launch. Before then we might finally see the first one foldable of the brand, a much more awaited and potentially much more practical smartphone than the Mi MIX Alpha 2.
