In the second half of last year, Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX Alpha concept phone at the price of 19999 yuan (2400 €), the most extraordinary smartphone presented by Xiaomi in recent years and obviously also the most expensive. That said, the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha never really went on the market. Today, Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun announced that the Mi MIX Alpha project has been abandoned.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha: Lei Jun confirms the abandonment of the project
As we all know, Xiaomi will celebrate its 11th anniversary on XNUMX August. Lei Jun will make a very important speech and in the last few days he has been preparing for the event also thanks to greater interaction with fans, trying to answer as many questions as possible and maybe write down some topics to talk about. But let's imagine that the Mi MIX Alpha is not one of these since to the fans' question "When will the smartphone finally go on sale?", Lei Jun replied saying that "The Mi MIX Alpha was more a concept phone but the production mass proved too difficult, so we abandoned the project ”.
So Lei Jun has finally confirmed that we will never see the smartphone on the market. News that does not surprise us as the smartphone presented in September should have gone on sale at the end of the year but this never happened. We are now more than 7 months after the theoretical sale, but there are no traces of the device.
We quickly recall that the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha came with a surround screen that completely surrounded the device and a screen-to-body ratio of 180,6%. The surround screen used a flexible double-folded panel, applying very innovative fitting methods and fully automated assembly methods.
It was also the first flagship to feature a 100 megapixel camera with a 108MP ultra HD lens, a 20MP super wide-angle lens (1,5cm super macro) and a 12MP portrait camera. The smartphone was then equipped with a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, along with 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of UFS 3.0 flash memory, 4050 mAh nano-silicon battery and 40 W wired flash charging.
