Surprise! Xiaomi re-introduces the dialer that records calls on this Global model

The question of call recording on Android devices has raised quite a few controversies. Google, the Mountain View giant that develops this operating system, has indeed I imposed a series of restrictions aimed at limiting this practice, considered potentially harmful to the confidentiality of telephone conversations. But Xiaomi seems to have re-introduced call recording on one of its top of the range devices.

Xiaomi: call recording returns to MIX Flip

A recent announcement by the highly prepared Kacper Skrzypek is of interest to those nostalgic for the feature: lo Xiaomi MIX Flip (arriving in Italy at an attractive price) seems to have found a way to abypass the limitations imposed by Google, offering its users the ability to record calls through the proprietary dialer pre-installed on the device.

This is a novelty that goes against the tide of the increasingly stringent policies adopted by Google regarding call recording. Until now, in fact, this functionality had been progressively limited and finally disabled on Android devices, even for third-party apps that tried to bypass the restrictions through workarounds.

With Android 10, in particular, Google had delivered what seemed to be the final blow to call recording, completely blocking access to the microphone of the device during telephone conversations. A choice also dictated by strict privacy regulations in force in the European Union, which effectively make this practice illegal in many countries.

Naturally, even in this case there are limitations related to the geographical region of use: call recording is in fact disabled by default in countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Greece, the Czech Republic and Romania, where the regulations are particularly stringent. However, more savvy users will be able to easily bypass this restriction, simply by changing the device region.

The company has not said a word for the moment, but after this revelation there will be a clarifying press release which will say whether the feature will be implemented in Italy or not.
