Xiaomi has partnered with Sundance Collab, a global community and learning platform for creators launched by the Sundance Institute. The goal is to create a personalized course that “decompresses” the tools and opportunities for professional mobile cinema. Co-created by film professionals from Xiaomi Studios and Sundance Collab, the course explores mobile cinema and offers a behind-the-scenes look at how to make movies shot on smartphones professional. Each episode will focus on a different aspect of mobile cinema, from learning how to work within the parameters of smartphone cameras to choosing equipment, finding locations and more.
Episodes will also include appearances of Xiaomi Creators, members of a talent program that offers talented directors and photographers a platform to share their creativity globally through the lens of their smartphone. The course is hosted by Steven Senshan, chief of the Xiaomi Studios, which has been behind some of the company's boldest smartphone film activities, including the recently launched Film Festival, which saw award-winning filmmakers from around the world making their own smartphone films.
For the past decade, creators with a smartphone have been making high-quality work that we screened as shorts and feature films at the Sundance Film Festival. We are thrilled to partner with Xiaomi Studios on this detailed course that will provide global filmmakers with new tools to maximize shooting skill on a mobile device.

The full course, consisting of seven episodes and post-class activities, will be available for free on Sundance Collab on 4 October. The first six episodes will also be released once a week on Xiaomi's official social channels starting from the same day.
