It is well known that among the thousand interests of Xiaomi there was also the automotive sector, so much so as to give birth to a division of the company dedicated to this market, namely Xiaomi Motors, but what perhaps was poco stressed concerns the fact that the company's efforts are converging solely towards the debut of an electric vehicle.
Ok, every day we see the launch of electric cars but that of Xiaomi will have something revolutionary, as the vehicle will be able to drive itself. A project, that of autonomous driving, on which Xiaomi Motors is investing economic and development resources, so much so that the same company has published a teaser in which it announces that it already has 500 different technologies focused on autonomous driving in its arc, implying that the first self-driving vehicle may arrive earlier than expected.

But as if that were not enough, Xiaomi Motors has opened the recruitment for new members to add to the development team, especially engineers dedicated to L4 systems. But what does L4 mean? In the world of autonomous driving, this abbreviation corresponds to high-level automated driving, that is, autonomous driving in which the vehicle is able to make the figure of the driver as such disappear.
Could Xiaomi Motors therefore open the doors to the future with the launch of an electric vehicle that is not only economical but decidedly futuristic, as it is able to drive itself using the brand's technology and sensors? We hope so, as happened with smartphones, hoping that any updates to the car software do not involve risks as happened for the Android One program.
