Yesterday, the organization representing the interests of mobile network operators around the world, GSMA, officially canceled MWC 2020, the most important fair in the world on mobile telephony and technology in general. The cancellation of the event was clearly due to the current situation in China with the Coronavirus epidemic.

Now, despite the fact that the fair had been canceled, a good number of smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi had planned events outside the Mobile World Congress that theoretically could have continued without consequences. Well apparently it will not be so as Xiaomi has just officially communicated that the launch event of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series has just been canceled.

Xiaomi respects and understands the GSMA's decision to cancel the Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona.
Since the safety of Xiaomi's employees, partners, media and guests is our top priority, we have decided to postpone the global launch of the new Mi 10 flagships scheduled for February 23.
A launch event in Europe will be organized at a date yet to be defined, where we will share information on the Mi 10 series and ecosystem products.

So Xiaomi promises that there will be another launch event in the future again in Europe, but does not communicate any specific information. It will therefore be very interesting to see if smartphones will arrive later than expected due to this slippage, or if they will be placed on the market with the same timing.
In any case, if you missed it, today Xiaomi officially presented the new flagships in China, the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. The devices both arrive with 6,67-inch diagonal curved screens, they are equipped with the modern and high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, a minimum of 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.0 internal memory with Turbo Write.
Then we find a 108MP main camera, Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor with a size of 1 / 1.3 inches and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) stabilization, then optical. There will be support for recording 8K videos, while images will be shot in HEIF format, to reduce the file size by at least 50% while maintaining the same image quality. Finally we have support for the next generation 5G network and a new WiFi 6 module that will allow the device to reach speeds never seen before while decreasing battery consumption.
