With this patent Xiaomi puts the halo on its smartphone

When it comes to patents Xiaomi it is second only to Oppo. In fact, the two companies beat it in China as in the world with regards to number of concepts and patents presented to the various bodies. Even today, after a pause, we see one. The patent that was brought to us in color by the team of LetsGoDigital shows a Xiaomi smartphone with a very very special pop-up room. This takes in fact the form of a halo. Let's see what it is.

Xiaomi thinks of a very particular smartphone, with a halo pop-up camera. Will we ever see it on the market or is it a concept?

According to the data that emerged from the documentation, at the end of November 2020, Xiaomi would have filed a design patent with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The patent was released yesterday, June 1, 2021, and shows a smartphone with a special camera system, both on the front and on the back. But let's start from the front. The device shows a full screen design, without contamination of notches or holes for the camera. Rather, to remedy the presence of front sensors, use a pop-up mechanism that integrates two cameras.

This pop-up mechanism would be housed inside the smartphone, just like in the Xiaomi Mi 9T (which by the way has just received Android 11). Nothing too exciting regarding the rear photographic sector: a central single sensor nice big, accompanied by others two sensors. A triple camera where the optics are positioned horizontally. Furthermore, the documentation also mentions a type-C connector for recharging as well as a SIM compartment placed under the device.

Clearly this is a patent and that means the device may never see the light. However, the hypothesis that Xiaomi can really bring such a mechanism to its next smartphone should not be underestimated, waiting for the UDC technology (under display camera) become more mature and less expensive.
