How to forget the old Motorola RAZR V3i released in the far distance 2004? I remember that one of his distinctive features was that sort of collection in which the upper part of the screen was embedded, creating a step below. If today it seems pretty ugly, at the time it has aroused a lot of interest and it is perhaps for this reason that Xiaomi has decided (or so it seems from this patent) to create a similar one but definitely more up to date: we talk about one smartphone that combines an "antique" design with the new concept of "foldable". We discovered it thanks to the team of TigerMobiles.com which has discovered this patent.
Xiaomi thinks of a Motorola RAZR-style smartphone: here's the patent
As with all the patents we talked about so far, including that one introduce yourself yesterday, it is literally impossible to predict when they will become reality and how the brand will put them on the market, the latter still being poco mature for such devices. But let's proceed to see what ours thought Xiaomi.
In the first image we can see how the RAZR style device shows a full screen design regarding the front side. However, it is the location of the cameras: to a first analysis it seems that the display is less wide than the "rear body" how to foretell a sliding mechanism, the same as the Mi Mix 3. Actually from the other photographs there is no trace of this slider but rather, let's see how it is all embedded in the same body (third and fourth image) avoiding steps. In any case, the photographic sector counts two front and two rear cameras.
Quite curious is the closure: if we see the last two images on the right we see how the Xiaomi-like RAZR close from the side of the screen and not to the outside. We understand it from the camera that remains outside. This could mean that the brand is studying a technology for a highly resistant but flexible folding glass (probably provided by Visionox).
In these other images we see, better than before, how one is positioned on the back side RAZR V3i mini screen in perfect style: in fact the first question we asked ourselves when we looked at this patent is "Where do we see notifications if the smartphone closes on the screen?" Xiaomi has thought well of go back in time honoring the dear Motorola and giving his foldable screen a small size on which it will be possible to do the fundamental things that otherwise, with the screen off, it would be impossible to do.
What do you think of this idea? Too old-fashioned? Let us know in the comments.
The idea of a similar razr is wonderful
True? Me too teases haha!

Hi Aldo! It's really curious… who knows, maybe it will be a museum piece like the Mix Alpha dedicated to the most nostalgic.
