Xiaomi argues with IDC on smartphone sales data of the Q1 2019

We are in May and it is already time to take stock of sales and growth for smartphone companies. Despite the countless models presented at the beginning of the year, the data does not seem to promise much for the majority of mobile phone manufacturers, due to a global crisis that inevitably attacks certain tech products defined in a certain sense of luxury. IDC is now a leader in reporting on the general trend of the smartphone landscape, which offers us a negative view in relation to the trend of Xiaomi, which complains that the data analyzed by IDC must be reviewed.

Xiaomi wanted to reassure its users, arguing that the real figures of the company budget will be announced during the Conisglio meeting. According to IDC, Xiaomi's smartphone sales in the Q1 2019 would be around 25 million, registering a -10,2% drop compared to the same period of the 2018, while Xiaomi claims that real sales are of 27,5 smartphone miliodes. A decidedly higher figure, well 2,5 miliodi of units more, compared to the data provided by IDC but if compared with the value of 2018, we can still see a decrease compared to the previous year.

Money background

The Counterpoint company has published a report similar to that of IDC, where the numbers seem to coincide with what was declared by Xiaomi. And in fact, albeit minimal, a decrease of 1% is recorded. On the other hand, the values recorded by Huawei, Oppo and Vivo are good, the only company to have a positive trend even in the period of crisis. It should be specified that Xiaomi has started the "hot" sale of Mi 9, Mi 9 SE and Redmi Note 7 / Pro almost at the end of Q1 2019, therefore the next analyzes could completely overturn the situation at Xiaomi as well as in relation to rival brands.

Fortunately, another reporting company is thinking about raising morale, a brand that recently released the list of the most important 50 companies in China. In first place stands the giant Alibaba Group with an annual growth of 59% and a business value of 141 billion, while our beloved Xiaomi is eleventh with its 20 billion. In any case, the Chinese brand is still young but promising, in consideration of the fact that its business is not only based on the sale of smartphones, but we know very well that Lei Jun's company has its hands a little everywhere.

Nerd, Geek, Netizen, terms that do not belong to me. Simply myself, technology lover and provocative as Xiaomi does with his products. High quality at fair prices, a real provocation for the other most famous brands.
