Printers are one of the most popular home technologies in the home, really useful (especially now to print Covid-19 self-certifications), but among the most difficult to miniaturize to make the same portable. For this reason, over time it has been preferred to make them multifunctional, adding the possibility of scanning or faxing, often making them wireless but apart from those dedicated to photographic printing there are no portable versions, remaining bulky gadgets.
Some time ago, however, a Kickstarter project appeared, which featured the EVEBOT PrintPen, which, as the name suggests, makes it more like a pen in size and which allows printing on multiple materials. Of course, a companion app is not missing to make infinite the possibilities of printing and customizing objects, such as shoes, clothes and even your skin.

So could Xiaomi miss this innovation? I am sure that the fundraising campaign period is not over, so EVEBOT PrintPen has appeared on the crowdfunding of the asitatic brand, that is Youpin. The PrintPen printer that Xiaomi sells on Youpin is quite light: it weighs only 255 grams and its ergonomic design makes it easy to use as well as transport in the bag.
Through the Evebot companion app, available for both Android and iOS, you can connect the printer pen via WiFi, download images and print them, with a truly remarkable battery life: about 2000 prints with a full charge of the 1200 mAh battery. Below the complete technical sheet:

Recapping EVEBOT Printpen is a small portable printer with which we can label, mark and customize any object. Its working mode is inkjet and it is very simple to use. One button to turn on, turn off and print. In order to use it, the PrintPen smartphone app must be installed. Its settings are in English, but the manual is in Chinese, although from the brand they insist that its use is very intuitive and simple. The maximum vertical print length is 26mm while the horizontal length is not limited, but the app provides 14cm continuous work. Through the app you can adjust brightness, contrast, size and angle. It should be borne in mind that its print is monochromatic, however suitable for boxes, books, paper, clothes and even human skin.
It is possible to purchase directly from Xiaomi's Youpin store, but for us Europeans it is not accessible, but fortunately we find this splendid gadget already on sale on Bangoogd, at the same price requested at the time on Kickstarter, that is 249 dollars, or about 231 euros at the current exchange rate, while for ink cartridges (subject to availability) about 59 dollars are required, or about 47 euros at the exchange rate.
A price perhaps high, but really minimal if the innovation of this object is considered. However we hope this is a first step towards printer portability.
