Secondo Luo Baojun, general manager of the Beijing-Tianjin branch, the brand's first electric vehicle prototype will be presented in third quarter of this year. Basically we expect the so-called Xiaomi Auto to be seen for the first time no later than September. At the moment we don't know what exactly the electric car will look like, but the director said that "will exceed all expectations". There are no leaked sketches, only renders created by industry fanatics. However, we know that the Xiaomi's first electric car will be a sedan.

At the moment, Xiaomi is actively recruiting staff. For example, this year part of the employees working on MIUI will be transferred to the automotive division. The company is now building a factory on the outskirts of Beijing. According to what the company itself has previously stated, the production capacity of the main factory will allow to put on the market 150.000 vehicles per year.
Recall that the Xiaomi Auto project also includes asmartphone-vehicle interface that we got to preview.
