Many users, as mentioned, complain about the proximity sensor not working on Xiaomi smartphones. What happens? Basically when we bring our device close to our ears (during a call or when we listen to a voice), theor screen won't turn off even though it should. This happens because the so-called proximity sensor gives problems. Note that Xiaomi is not the only one to suffer from this tedious bug, but it is the one that suffers the most. Having said that: what is it all due to?
It is good to know that the proximity sensor, as well as the ear capsule, it is not a Xiaomi product. The Chinese company buys these hardware components and mounts them on their devices. Already here we will understand that the "fault" of Asian society is not all his own. But who is it that sells these components? Elliptic Labs, of which we have already heard of it previously. This is a Norwegian company that can boast a record: that of distribute virtual sensors to most companies.
And here is the problem! It is a virtual sensor and not an optical one. What is the difference? An optical sensor works thanks to infrared and, in a nutshell, is not subject to flaws of any kind. If so, the problems are sporadic. The digital proximity sensor, on the other hand, as we know, has many problems. This was intended to match the optical sensor in terms of performance eliminating the need for unnecessary additional hardware. In hindsight, this additional hardware is anything but superfluous.
But where is the real problem? The main problem lies in the fact that this technology is "flawed" and not at all responding to the needs of users. Elliptic Labs proposed itself as a problem solver when in reality it was not. And the matter is even more serious if we think that Elliptic Labs announced that the Inner Beauty technology (this is the name of the digital proximity sensor) it will apply to most Cirrus Logic audio amplifiers.

How to check if the proximity sensor on Xiaomi works
Having said that, let's get to the practical side. To see if the proximity sensor works just go to Settings > Info system > All specifications > we tap on several times Kernel version until we get to the CIT> menu Proximity sensor. At this point we cover the ear capsule and see if the number gives 0 and 5 as a digit. 5 means the sensor is not covered, 0 means the sensor is covered. In principle, if these are the conditions, we should have no problems.
How to solve the proximity sensor problem
There are several methods, we list only two of them. The first consists of the download an application which goes to correct as much as possible the errors of the proximity sensor on Xiaomi. Is called Proximity Sensor Reset. This app sets values that shouldn't cause problems following the test performed. The procedure is simple and completely automatic (and in Italian).
The second method, according to what we learn from social networks, is that of install the Xiaomi.eu ROM. We did not find any issues with the sensor installing it, but we have no evidence that this applies to all models. In general, apart from this problem, we always recommend using this ROM as it is much more comprehensive and updates come sooner.

Entrei no modo de segurança and entrei no heads dos sensores, lá funcionou, após isso reiniciei or celular and as much or sensor de luminosidade as o de proximidade voltaram a funcionar normally.
