Winter is approaching, both for us and for the Chinese, but the latter have a problem much more serious than the cold. In winter, in China, the smog rises to crazy levels, to the point of being able to seriously harm the salutation of those who live in the city. It is no coincidence that China is the country that uses more air purifiers, which are usually combined with an air quality meter. We are talking about this kind of product today, after the Chinese house launched a crowdfunding campaign for the Xiaomi Qingping Air Detector.
The Xiaomi Qingping Air Detector is, as we said before, an air quality meter, specifically created for indoors. In addition to basic sensors to show temperature and humidity, the Qingping Air Detector can also measure the values of PM2.5 (particulate material with a diameter of less than 2,5 µm), tVOC (total volatile organic compounds) and carbon dioxide.

In particular, the tVOC includes various chemical compounds that can lead to the creation of pungent odors, and organic substances such as formaldehydes and gasoline, which are dangerous for humans.
The sensors on the Qingping Air Detector are obviously high-precision, with those for measuring temperature, humidity, tVOC and CO2 created by Sensirion based in Switzerland, while the PM2.5 meter is produced by Hanwang.
The Xiaomi gadget is not only useful, but also aesthetically beautiful to see, thanks to the 3.1-inch touchscreen display with retina resolution and a 328 PPI, automatic brightness and 15 degrees of movement to position it at the most appropriate angle. On the display then we find various information such as weather, outdoor air quality (found online), UV index, remember which license plates can circulate that day and, of course, also shows the timetable.
The Xiaomi Qingping Air Detector is now in the crowdfunding phase at the price of 599 Yuan, around € 75.
