Xiaomi Redmi 7: First photographic samples of the entry-level smartphone

Almost a week after the official presentation of the Xiaomi Redmire 7, held last Monday 18 March, it is finally time to find out what brings with it what most likely will become an entry-level best buy. We speak specifically of the photographic sector which is very often overlooked in the devices in the price range of which the Redmi 7 is part.

Will this also be the case on the smartphone just presented? Let's find out now with these photos from China!

Xiaomi Redmi 7 photo samples

The photos taken on Redmi 7 were shared by Xiaomi boss Lin Bin on the Chinese social network Weibo who then added "I'm shocked!" and tagged both the president of Redmi, Lu Weibing, and the founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun. Now that we know where these shots come from, let's go and discover them together.

The photos you will see below are quite monotonous as they have the same subject that is repeated. Moreover, they were also taken during the day or when good light is not difficult to get good images.

That said, what Redmi wants to point out is probably the bokeh effect (subject to focus and blurred background) that you can create with the device. In the price range of Redmi 7 it is usually difficult to find devices with two cameras that can then create a real bokeh effect. Most of the time a fake blur is added instead which in our opinion does nothing but make the photo worse and less realistic.

From the hardware point of view the Xiaomi Redmi 7 is equipped with a main 12MP sensor on the back of which we do not yet know the model; we know, however, that it has an aperture of f / 2.2 and pixels from 1.25µm and PDAF. While the secondary has a resolution of 2MP and serves precisely to capture the data on the depth and then add the blur effect. Finally, in front we have an 8MP camera for selfies.

In general, however, the photos look of excellent quality and we expect this to continue even with other subjects such as people or landscapes. As for low-light performance, it is still too early to tell, but we trust Redmi's desire to surprise.

What do you think of the photos above? Does this seem like a good starting point for a low-end device? We remind you that the Redmi 7 starts from a price of 699 Yuan in China, or about 90 euros.
