Ends the Beta for Redmi devices released in the 2016

The 10 January of the 2019, the new Redmi sub-brand has announced the official independence from the Xiaomi Group brand. This move, in addition to changing the market strategies regarding the production and sale of new terminals, has also led to changes in the MIUI update strategy by the Redmi team.

Redmi then announced that, starting yesterday, Thursday 4 April, the models released in the 2016 will no longer receive updates to the Global Beta ROM, while the Stable version of the ROM will continue to be updated normally. For the Mi Fans who want to try new features in MIUI a new program will be created in the future that will allow them to test the stable version of the software before the official release. More information on this program will be communicated later.

But what are the devices affected by this decision? The list includes:

  • Xiaomi Redmi 3S
  • Xiaomi Redmi 3X
  • Xiaomi Redmire Pro
  • Xiaomi Redmire 4
  • Xiaomi Redmi 4A
  • Xiaomi Redmire 4 Pro
  • Xiaomi Note 3 Redmire
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (MTK)

Xiaomi also recommends updating all the devices just mentioned from the developer version to the stable, to ensure a more stable operating system and a more fluid user experience.

If you want to make the transition from Global Beta to Global Stable, you can follow the simple guide on official Xiaomi forum in Italian. No need to unlock the bootloader or other complicated procedures, just download the Global Stable, copy it to the device and install it. Please refer to This Page for more information.

In conclusion, even if the end of the updates is never something positive, as we said before it is "only" of the Beta version of the software. The Stable version will continue to receive updates, although the arrival of the MIUI 11 on these devices seems almost impossible at this point.
