Xiaomi has chosen on numerous occasions to produce smartphones in two variants, one dedicated to the Chinese market and another for abroad. This is exactly what happened to the Redmi Note 4, equipped with Mediatek Helio X20 in the Chinese version and Snapdragon 625 in the model intended for Indian users. According to rumors, Xiaomi would be about to launch the Qualcomm variant also at home. In addition, in addition to the SoC change, the "new" Redmi Note 4 will benefit from other small improvements, starting with a new antenna design. The other change made by Xiaomi will not be noticed: it will change the production process, which will be made faster and cheaper.
The adoption of the Qualcomm chip, on the less performing card of the Mediatek SoC and equipped with a lower clock speed, will certainly contribute to making the processing of the terminal less expensive. The price of this new version should be lower than that of the old model and could be between 900 and 1300 Yuan (120-175 euros). Given the low cost, Lei Jun and his companions expect a strong response from the Chinese public. As already mentioned, it is not the first time that Xiaomi has chosen to modify the components of a smartphone months after its release. In fact, we recall that the same fate was touched to the Redmi Note 3, in principle equipped with the Helio X10, later replaced by the Snapdragon 650.
