Redmi Notes 7 Pro Benchmark: One step forward and one back

Although Xiaomi is, as we all know, a Chinese company, the last device of the Redmi sub-brand has actually been previewed in India, while the 18 March will be announced on Chinese territory; we are obviously talking about the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

One of the strengths of this mid-ranger will undoubtedly be the processor that mounts, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 with eight cores, 64-bit and created with a production process at 11nm. In particular, the CPU equips two cores Kryo 460 cores based on Cortex A76 at a frequency of 2GHz and another six cores Kryo 460 based on Cortex A55 at the frequency of 1.7GHz. The processor is then supported by an Adreno 612 GPU with support for Open GL ES 3.2, Open CL 2.0, Vulkan graphics and up to 6GB of RAM (although the tests we will see below were obtained with 4GB of memory).

At the presentation of the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi had said that the new processor is the 55% higher performance than the Snapdragon 636 that powered the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 6 Pro. This thanks to the Kryo 460 cores based on the new Cortex A76 bigger and faster than Kryo 360 that instead we find on a higher-end CPU, or the Snapdragon 710, so in theory we could also see better results. It's really like this? We discover it immediately thanks to the tests carried out by FoneArena.

Let's start with the benchmark par excellence: AnTuTu.

As we can see in the image above, the Redmi Note 7 Pro goes beyond the 180000 points. A really impressive number if we consider the band in which it arises and that the most expensive Xiaomi Mi 9 SE with Snapdragon 712 reaches a very similar score.

As for Geekbench 4 instead, we have a single-core score of 2377, in line with the Vivo V15 Pro equipped with the same chipset and much better than the other devices with Snapdragon 660. While in multi-core mode the Note 7 Pro reaches the 6592 points.

Moving on to more intensive benchmarks from a graphical point of view we have the 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited GPU benchmark in which the smartphone gets 24826 points.

Then we have GFXBench 2.7 T-Rex OnScreen benchmark in which it manages to reach 2207 frames or 39 fps and GFXBench 3.0 Manhattan OnScreen with 1220 frames or 20 fps.

Finally, we have the two benchmarks Basemark OS II and Basemark X 1.1. In the first the Redmi Note 7 Pro beats everyone with 3094 points, while in the second it comes in second, after the Vivo V15 Pro with 37693 points in total.

Analyzing the results we understand that the new Snapdragon 675 is a high performance processor and does better than the Snapdragon 660 in most tests. Where it seems to disappoint is instead on the GPU side, obtaining for several times lower scores than the predecessor. We must however remind you that these are synthetic benchmarks and not proof of real use, so look forward to our first impressions with the Redmi Note 7 device when we finally receive the device.
